How strong are these new pills? Is this liquid <a href=\"\" data-type=\"\" data-id=\"\">GHB or GBL<\/a>?   How pure is my stuff? Why does this powder look differently than I&#8217;m used to? Does it contain anything dangerous?  <\/em><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>In June 2023, free and anonymous drug checking launched in Berlin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"anchormenu mobileonly wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#locations\">Where &amp; when<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#was\">What you can get tested<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#abgabe\">What to expect at drop-off<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#ergebnis\">Your results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p id=\"locations\">You can drop off a sample at one of 3 locations in the city at specific, weekly recurring times slots \u2013 without having to fear legal sanctions. class=\"docs-creator\" href=\"http:\/\/drugchecking.berlin\"><strong>Drugchecking.berlin<\/strong><\/a> is only available in German so far. The list of <a href=\"https:\/\/drugchecking.berlin\/aktuelle-warnungen\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/drugchecking.berlin\/index.php\/warnungen\/aktuelle-warnungen\">recent problematic results<\/a> may be of interest despite the language barrier. Here&#8217;s how the process works:<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"was\">What you can get tested<\/h2>\n\n<p>Due to high demand,<strong> <\/strong>you can often only drop off <strong>one single sample<\/strong> per visit. Sometimes, there&#8217;s additional capacity.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Powder\/crystals<\/strong>: First, crush your substance into a fine powder and mix it well. Minimum amount required: \u201ca pinch\u201d (around 20\u201330mg).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Liquids:<\/strong> Stir thoroughly. Minimum amount: \u201ca few drops\u201d (around 0.2ml)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tablets\/pills, gel caps, blotters:<\/strong> Bring one piece (so that the total dose can be determined)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cannabis<\/strong> (only when you suspect synthetic cannabinoids \u2013 THC won\u2019t be measured): Bring 0.1g<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Not accepted:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plant matter, including psychoactive mushrooms and cannabis (except when treatment with synthetic cannabinoids is suspected)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pharmaceuticals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food and beverages (including alcoholic or caffeinated beverages)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anabolic steroids, poppers and potency drugs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"abgabe\">What to expect at drop-off<\/h2>\n\n<p><strong>No appointment is required.<\/strong> However, only a limited number of test slots are distributed at the specified drop-off time. We recommend arriving a bit early. Depending on which slot you get there may be some waiting time involved (or you may be asked to return a bit later). The staff also speak English.<\/p>\n\n<p>First, you\u2019ll create an anonymous code to identify yourself with. You\u2019ll be asked to <strong>voluntarily answer a few questions<\/strong>, including for your age (must be 18 or over), sex, nationality, zip code and substance use habits. They&#8217;ll also ask what the substance you&#8217;re dropping off was labeled as, what kind of source you got it from (e.g. friends, dealer, internet) and how much you paid.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you&#8217;d like, you could also use this opportunity to bring up any further questions or concerns you may have around your substance use. The counselors have an accepting and unbiased attitude towards drugs. They are familiar with queer lifestyles \u2013 especially at Schwulenberatung Berlin. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>You do not run any additional legal risks<\/strong> by using this service. This is guaranteed by an agreement in place between the police, the public prosecutor\u2019s office, the municipal department of health and the participating organizations. Users won\u2019t be targeted by law enforcement in the vicinity of the project sites. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ergebnis\">Your results<\/h2>\n\n<p><strong>Results usually take a few days<\/strong> \u2013 only analyzing GHB\/GBL or synthetic cannabinoids might take a bit longer. You can pick up your results on the phone or in person.<\/p>\n\n<p>For the phone call, find a quiet, private spot and have pen and paper ready for notes. To fully protect your anonymity, you can <strong>suppress Caller ID<\/strong> by dialing <code>#31#<\/code> right before the number of the hotline.<\/p>\n\n<p>Your results will cover:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Active substances found<\/strong> \u2013 this may also include psychoactive adulterants like caffeine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purity <\/strong>\u2013 proportion of each active substance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whether <strong>dangerous ingredients<\/strong> or <strong>unknown substances<\/strong> were detected<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p><em>Note for pros: Enantiomers are not differentiated \u2013 e.g. R- and S-Ketamine can&#8217;t be told apart. Non-psychoactive bulking agents (e.g. lactose) are not separately identified.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>Remember that even <strong>drug checking has its limits<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The analysis may fail to identify completely novel substances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A singular result is no guarantee for the future: Your next delivery from the same source might contain different ingredients.
