When used correctly, both external and internal condoms provide effective protection against HIV infection – just like PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and treatment as prevention (TasP).
- Condoms also provide a limited amount of protection from other STIs.
- Condoms are widely available – nevertheless, it is advisable to always have one with you.
- Condoms provide the most effective protection if they are stored safely and attention is paid to shelf life and quality (CE seal).
- Condoms, PrEP and treatment as prevention reliably protect you against HIV and can be combined with each other. Choose what works for you.
